There was a wild story this summer about Adam “Pacman” Jones — and for once, Jones wasn’t the instigator.
A worker at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport verbally accosted and then physically attacked Jones, who is now with the Denver Broncos. The man was arrested for battery and other charges, and has now been sentenced.
Going after Jones
The airport worker, Frank Ragin, worked for facilities management company ABM.
In a video posted to Twitter on July 11, Ragin can be seen shouting and gesturing toward Jones, though it’s unclear what is being said. Two individuals try to restrain Ragin, while a woman with Jones tries to restrain him.
Ragin ignores those trying to stop him and pursues Jones, shoving him into a metal door covering a closed storefront.
Jones then squares up, and the woman with him is shouting, “Adam! Adam!” but he’s undeterred. Ragin ends up on the floor of the airport terminal.
Jones got a cut on the face during the altercation, and the woman with him also suffered an injury to her hand.
Ragin’s day in court
Ragin was arrested and charged with two counts of battery, one count of disorderly conduct and also a count of terroristic threats; police determined that Ragin was the aggressor and Jones was defending himself as is his right, so he was not arrested or charged.
But Ragin agreed to a deal with prosecutors, pleading no contest to one count of battery; the three other charges were dropped.
Ragin received a fairly stiff sentence under the circumstances: TMZ reports he got one year of jail plus roughly one year of probation, and he also must complete 70 hours of community service.
