To create a roster spot for Bradford, the Vikings waived tight end Kyle Carter. Bradford was on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

Bradford has practiced the past two weeks, but head coach Mike Zimmer said Friday he hasn't made a decision whether the 30-year-old veteran will dress in Sunday's game.

In Week 1 of the 2017 season, Bradford played perhaps the best game of his career as the Vikings beat the visiting Saints 29-19. He started his second year with Minnesota in style, completing 27 of 32 passes for 346 yards with three touchdowns and a career-best passer rating of 143.0.

But Bradford suffered a knee injury during the game that sidelined him for the next three games, which is when the Vikings first turned to Case Keenum.

The Boston Globe reported Bradford will suit up for the first time since Week 5, but when asked about the report during his news conference on Friday, Zimmer said, "I don't know how the Boston Globe would know because I haven't made any decisions yet."

Teddy Bridgewater was activated for the first time in 15 months and has served as Keenum's backup." data-reactid="17">During Bradford's absence, Teddy Bridgewater was activated for the first time in 15 months and has served as Keenum's backup.

Zimmer said this week that Bradford is working his way back in with the other quarterbacks but "has a ways to go still."

"It's kind of hard to get reps when you're getting your starter ready," Zimmer said. "When you have 40 reps in a practice and he gets five and Bridgewater gets five."

Bradford started in Week 5 at Chicago, but left just before halftime. Keenum led three second-half scoring drives in relief of Bradford as the Vikings beat the Bears 20-17.

That win started a streak of eight in a row with Keenum under center. The Vikings were 11-3 in the regular season with Keenum as a starter, and he finished with a 67.6 completion percentage, 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a passer rating of 98.3.

Keenum's completion percentage ranked second in the NFL among qualifying passers behind Saints quarterback Drew Brees, whose 72.0 rate edged past Bradford's 2016 mark of 71.6 for a new NFL record.
