*Nicki Minajdropped two new songs Thursday (April 13), “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” and Young Thug followed up by recruiting her for his new song “Anybody,” off the rapper’s surprise new EP.
Despite the enthusiasm for her comeback singles, it’s Nicki’s accompanying interview that’s got everyone arguing and debating on social media because she opened up about her feelings towards Cardi B.
Minaj chopped it up with Zane Lowe at the Beats 1 studio about why she felt “ambushed” following Cardi’s comments about the release of the Migostrack “Motorsport.”

How can you say someone changed their verse & forget to say Quavo TOLD me to remove my singing part (which I loved) & Atlantic told me to remove your name from my verse per your request? So how were those changes gonna happen if I didn’t “change” my verse? 😩🤣 #NickiDay #ChunLi

Although Cardi has repeatedly denied any beef between the two, Nicki says she was ‘hurt’ by Cardi during her interview.
“The only thing that Cardi did that really hurt my feelings was the first interview after ‘Motorsport’ came out,” Nicki said. “It just really hurt me because the only thing she kept saying was, ‘I didn’t hear that verse. She changed her verse.'”
“I kind of felt ambushed,” Nicki continued, especially after Quavo “didn’t back [her] up” on the story of how the record came about.
Nicki also said that Quavo’s told her: “I would go on Twitter and back you up if you were my girl.” Plus, Nicki says that she wanted to shoot the “Motorsport” video with Cardi B, but there was a scheduling conflict due to her hairdresser, who couldn’t make it on the day Cardi was shooting.
“All of them allowed me to look like I lied and even with the scheduling conflict, she’s using my hairdresser now, so even he can attest to the fact that there was a scheduling conflict,” Nicki said.
“I really fully supported her and up until this recent interview I had never seen her show me genuine love in an interview,” she said. “I can just imagine how many girls wish they could of been on a song with Nicki Minaj. I’m not saying it in a cocky way.” Nicki was audibly upset as she spoke.
Nicki is referencing the controversy around the only song that the two women are both featured on, “Motorsport,” by Migos. In late October of last year, Nicki took to Twitter to address rumors that were circulating about the song. She revealed then that she was initially told the song would be just her and Quavo, but he asked her for permission to add Cardi B to the song, which she okayed.
About a month later, Cardi B did a radio interview in which she was notably awkward when asked about Nicki Minaj. In that interview, she said that when she first heard “Motorsport,” Nicki’s verse wasn’t finished, and what she heard was different from the verse that is on the final song.
