ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) -- A man is accused of trying to enter the Biltmore Estate with a stolen AK-47 rifle and more than two pounds of marijuana.
The Asheville Citizen Times reports 21-year-old Torrey Lane Hodsden tried to enter the estate Wednesday without a ticket.
After he was turned away, Hodsden reportedly parked near a gift shop.
Biltmore Company Police Director Larry Rankine tells the Citizen Times that officers asked Hodsden was asked to exit his car when officers smelled a “strong odor of marijuana” coming from his car.
Hodsden reportedly put his car in reverse and hit the police vehicle and two officers as he fled.
According to jail records, Hodsden has been charged with several assault, gun and drug charges.
He’s in the Buncombe County jail under $275,000 bond.
