The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the latest rumor suggesting Idris Elba could succeed Daniel Craig as 007 in the James Bond franchise is indeed false.
Elba has been a favorite amongst fans hoping to see a non-white actor take on the role of the iconic British spy for quite some time. The rumor began circulating again yesterday after The Daily Star published a report in which the tabloid detailed a conversation between director Antoine Fuqua and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, claiming Broccoli said “it is time” for a diverse actor to take on the role and that she is certain “it will happen eventually”. The tabloid also claimed Elba was in the mix for the role and after Fuqua seemingly teased The Wire and Luthor actor for the role:

“Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with physically strong presence. Idris has that.”
While the rumor once again sparked excitement to see Elba as James Bond, it seems it was all premature as a rep for Fuqua confirmed to the trade that the quotes above were completely untrue and falsified:

“He never had a conversation with Barbara about the franchise or about any casting. It’s all made up stuff. Not sure how it got started.”
Elba’s camp declined to comment, however, one of the trade’s sources confirmed that no one on the actor’s team has any idea of the actor’s involvement with the franchise.
Officially, Danny Boyle is set to direct the next James Bond which will see Daniel Craig reprise his role as the iconic 007. The script has been written by John Hodge. Franchise veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade originally wrote the script for the twenty-fifth installment. The duo has written on every Bond film from the last 19 years ranging from The World is not Enough all the way up to 2015’s Spectre, however, the studio opted for Hodge’s script over the former’s.
Bond 25 is being produced by Eon Productions with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson producing. MGM and Annapurna Pictures will be distributing the film domestically while Universal Pictures handles international distribution.
Bond 25 is slated to hit theaters November 8, 2019, with a U.K. release scheduled for October 25, 2019.
10 X-Men That Need To Appear In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
The X-Men, along with Blade and Spider-Man, helped kick-start the superhero movie boom fans are still enjoying today. And unlike most, the X-Men are still going strong and maintaining the same continuity (with a few minor changes but maintaining actors) as the longest-running superhero franchise around. This year audiences will see a sequel to Deadpool, with X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants coming in 2019. Fox is currently working on several Marvel projects, including spin-offs for Gambit, Multiple Man and Kitty Pryde.
Yet one has to wonder: is Fox trying to rush out these films into reality or are these announcement just to make sure the studio appears to be running smoothly in the chance the Disney purchase doesn’t go through? If the purchase is made official, Marvel Studios and Disney will more than likely start a new X-Men series to incorporate the characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When the X-Men return home, Marvel has a chance to do something new and fresh with the property. Brighter, more comic accurate costumes, contrasting the mutants as a whole with the wider cinematic universe, but most importantly highlighting certain characters. The X-Men comics have a vast array of iconic and colorful heroes and villains to choose from yet the past X-Men films only focused on a handful of characters. Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Jean Grey and Beast seemed to be the focus of the filmmakers throughout the two trilogies. Now is the time to highlight other characters (ones that the original film series sidelined) to make these X-Men characters as big of names as Wolverine is to the brand.
These are the ten X-Men that need to be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Click
