Fortnite Season 5: Patch Notes, Skins, Weapons, Modes And More

Season 5 is upon us, and the moniker of “worlds collide” couldn’t be more apt. Only in Fortnite could you be looting a Chinese village dressed as an American bear one second then fighting the Norse-inspired Ragnarok in a golf cart the next. Fortnite has evolved massively through season 5, but the core concept of being the last person standing remains the same.

To aid you in clinching that elusive Victory Royale, Trusted Reviews has collected everything you need to know about Fortnite Season 5, including all the latest news, patch notes, skins, weapon changes, and weekly guides.

What is Fortnite Season 5?

The anticipation behind Fortnite Season 5 has been bigger than all those that came before it. This is largely due to how Epic Games introduced the concept of ‘worlds colliding’ through an in-game event that saw a series of cracks form in the sky.

We presume this is a way for Epic Games to introduce whatever themes and locations it wants in future seasons and updates, and the fifth is a sign of this as it introduces Vikings, Secret Agents, Norse Gods and more into the fold. Of course, these are unlockable skins.

Fortnite Season 5 release date – when is it out?

It’s out now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch and iOS now servers are finally up and running.

Fortnite Season 5 – What is the High Stakes LTM?

Fortnite’s High Stakes LTM is available from Thursday, September 6. In this mode you’ll be hunting for one of four different chests, which act like supply drops, and looting a precious Llama Jewel from inside. With the jewel in hand, you’ll then need to fight your way to a getaway van. Leave in the van successfully and you’ll be awarded one of the four possible Victory Royales.

To make things more interesting, four jewels will always be in play, and will be visible to everyone on the map for 30 seconds. The jewels themselves give the player shields and health over time, but will also slow them down by 10%, so plan accordingly.

As for the getaway vans, four in total will arrive, three early on and a fourth nearer the end. They also float in mid-air, meaning you’ll need to stock up on materials beforehand. The upside, material harvest rates have been increased by 50%.

It’ll also be worth keeping a lookout for the new “Pursuit” supply drops, which contain a wide array of long-range weapons, and is the only way to acquire the Grappler gun in The Getaway.

The update will also introduce the much-anticipated Wild Card skin, which comes with a selection of different masks, and the ridiculous new gun The Grappler.

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a set of four new challenges, which unlock XP, a spray, a money trail, and a new crowbar pickaxe for everyone looking to create their very own in-game heist cosplay.

Fortnite Season 5 Map – A whole new area

Season 5 has brought some big alterations to the map of Fortnite Battle Royale. So much so it could completely transform how we approach the game for a while. Unlike PUBG, which introduces new maps, Epic Games is opting instead to iterate upon existing ones. You can check it out below:

Fortnite Season 5 Update – What are the big changes?

    The Grappler

Is it a gun? Is it a zipline? It’s both! Aim at an area, shoot, and you’ll be zipped over in a flash. Just grab a double-barreled shotgun and you’ll be up in your enemy’s face in no time.

    Emote Picker

Not the biggest thing in the world, but you can now select which emotes to play while loitering around in the lobby. Handy!

    New LTM: Soaring Solos

We’ve already had Soaring 50s, but now it’s time to try it out solo. The same rules apply – jumping off a high point lets you redeploy the glider – only this time you don’t have 49 other people ready to watch you die and take your loot.

    Spiky Stadium

For the Playground players out there, a new consumable has been added that spawns an entire sports stadium. It works much like the Port-a-fort by the sound of it, and it’ll surely be interesting to see what mini-games players can come up with. Football with rockets anyone?

Imagine a Port-a-fort. Now imagine it much larger complete with an exit strategy. That’s basically what the new Legendary consumable is. The main difference, aside from the bulk, is the introduction of bounce pads around the top. Should you get jumped, you’ve now got a way of putting some distance between you and your attackers.

Fortnite Season 5 Save The World – New missions and loot?

Don’t worry, Epic Games hasn’t forgotten about Fortnite purists and their love for Save The World. Season 5 introduces a new

Road Trip Event featuring an inventive Western theme.

Players can earn an assortment of new skins and weapons through the

Flintlock Weapon Set , so you’ll be looking nice and stylish when faced with undead hordes. As always, you can find the full list of patch notes on Epic’s website.

    New Character Fiona

A new Harvester Ninja joins the battle against the Husks, complete with a smoke bomb and the ever life-saving double jump ability. You’ll find the new addition in the Road Trip Event store.

    Get an Easy 1,500 Gold

Check your quest book because you’ll be able to get a sweet 1,500 gold just for completing the weekly horde challenge. If you’ve yet to buy Ragnarok now is the time!

    Bowler – Flintlock Launcher

“Strike down enemies with the newest weapon in the Flintlock set, spare none,” reads the ominous patch notes. If you’re looking to pick up the latest flintlock weapon, the Horde mode mission which rewards a massive 1500 gold is back this week. So definitely get right on that!

Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass – What’s in it?

The Season 5 Battle Pass is now available for 950 V-Bucks, providing players with a substantial path of progression including plenty of skins, emotes, sprays, weapons and more. All themed around the “Worlds Collide” moniker, there’s a silly amount of variety on display here.
