Wednesday, firefighters in Columbus helped bring a dog back to life after pulling it from a house fire. It happened just before 1:30 in the afternoon in the 1300 block of Koebel Road. NBC4 has video of the amazing rescue and an update on how Max, the Pitbull is doing.
Todd Buccilla came outside to see what was going on when, "I seen the house was on fire and smoke and I seen a dog laying on the front porch," he said. "He was just limp."
He started filming as firefighters worked tirelessly to revive the dog pulled from the burning home.
"I just started filming where they did CPR on the dog and after a few minutes you could see the dog started coming around. I mean he was pretty much gone it looked like."
This story has a happy ending. After being found unconscious and barely breathing, Max was given oxygen, paramedics started an IV and the dog was taken to a local veterinarian where the dog was sedated.
Buccilla said he's glad he was in the right place at the right time to be able to share this heartwarming rescue.
"The happy stories are few and far between anymore so I think this is a good one."
No people were hurt in the fire. We're still waiting to learn what caused the fire.
