Hurry up, because the event is almost sold out!
What does it mean to be a free person? What's the best way to speak up at work? Is there a better way to treat depression? What's next for Black Lives Matter? Who owns your internet? Why is your landlord so inflexible?
On Saturday, September 10, 2016 at SVA Theatre in Chelsea, an incredible lineup of local speakers will address these and many more exciting questions at TEDxNewYork. It just might be the most valuable $100 ticket you will ever get in New York City. Apply here to attend, and write in "Gothamist" in the "How did you hear about TEDxNewYork" question.
The theme for the all-day event is "Down the Rabbit Hole," because 2016 has been one mad year—and we believe New York's brightest can guide us to wherever we're going next. Speakers include Mark S. Luckie, Reddit's head of media and journalism; Joanna Ebenstein, co-founder of Brooklyn's amazingly dark Morbid Anatomy Museum; and Yale Fox, an activist who's standing up to corruption in our housing rental system.
There's something enjoyable for every kind of New Yorker—literature, design, politics, comedy, and philosophy, to name just a few. Check out the full list here.
Come for the ideas, stay to meet your neighbors. You'll also get a full day of great food: Let New York's best baristas make you free coffee, eat Wafels & Dinges for breakfast, Dos Toros tacos and Taïm falafel for lunch, and expect Mile End, Murray's Cheese, and Bien Cuit for dinner. Plus, custom-made beer and vodka will take you into the evening.
Apply to attend here. What better way to spend a Saturday?
