Billy Dec Explains Sriracha Sauce To Megyn Kelly In Awkward TV Segment

Megyn Kelly’s cooking segment with Chicago restaurateur Billy Dec was awkward from start to finish Thursday.

Dec, who recently opened a Sunda restaurant in Nashville, showed Kelly and her NBC morning show audience how to cook shrimp stir-fry with leftovers.

“So this one’s definitely not for me because I don’t eat any seafood. Even just the smell of that seafood is a little upsetting to me,” Kelly told Dec.

When it came time to make the sauce, Dec asked Kelly if she likes Sriracha.

“I don’t know. I don’t know what it is,” Kelly said.

“It’s a hot sauce. Do you like hot sauce?” Dec said.

“Eh,” Kelly said. “I think I’ll be ordering the pizza.”

Dec showed off the shrimp stir-fry he made and even made a separate chicken stir-fry for Kelly, who ate one bite of broccoli. Then Dec made a frittata that Kelly had no problem tasting.

“Ohmigod, it’s delicious,” Kelly said. “Sorry, I know I have unsophisticated tastes.”

“It’s OK, you just spit all over me… that means you liked it,” Dec said.

“Megyn Kelly Today” airs at 9 a.m. weekdays on WMAQ-Ch. 5.
