Animal Care Services officials said their Pet Pantry program will run out of dog food this weekend without an immediate influx of donations from the community.

Currently supplies have dwindled to nine bags of dog food and no cat litter. Pet treats and newspapers are at a critical low level and ACS staff estimate these items will run out by next week.

Additional items needed at the pantry include canned or dog/cat food, towels and linens, and heartworm preventative of any kind.

The program serves pet owners in need of temporary help to feed their animals.

Donations can be dropped off at the annex building at the ACS campus, located at 4710 State Highway 151.

Pet food or new and gently used pet items can be dropped off any time during regular business hours — Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents who would like to be notified of the need for supplies, fosters and other ACS requests can sign up for the “Furst Responder Team” at : https://goo.gl/forms/RkjkhQjndUPMXOB72.

Local civic organizations and businesses can also help the pantry through the ACS Pay It Furward program, which pairs education and philanthropy.
