Hurts Donut makes local debut in Katy
New York-based Thor Equities announced new tenants in its Shoppes at Cinco Ranch development at Spring Green Boulevard and FM 1093 in Katy. Springfield, Mo.-based Hurts Donut has leased 3,459 square feet for its first Houston-area store. Chase plans to build a branch bank on a 1-acre ground lease in front of Lowe's.
Classic car show on Sunday, Oct. 15
The Houston Italian Festival will host a Classic Car Show on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., followed by a parade of the vehicles. The 38-car collection features representation from Italy, Germany and England and includes premier cars such as a 1967 Maserati Ghibli, fully restored Citroen, 1962 Rolls Royce and a small fleet of Fiats.
The owners will be on site to share information, history and specifics of their vintage automobiles. Visitors to the festival will be able to get up close to the vehicles, snap a photo and be able to sit inside upon permission from the owner.
The 39th Houston Italian Festival will be held from Thursday, Oct. 12, to Sunday, Oct. 15, on the grounds of the University of St. Thomas. Festa Italiana is an annual festival founded with the mission of celebrating Italian culture and heritage in the city of Houston.
Courtyard by Marriott opens in Sugar Land
A newly built, 135-room Courtyard by Marriott is now open at 16740 Creek Bend Drive in Sugar Land.
The Courtyard by Marriott Houston Sugar Land/Lake Pointe is owned by Dallas-based Woodbine Development Corp. and managed by InterMountain Management.
Rooms have hybrid zones for working, sleeping, relaxing and getting ready. The Bistro in the lobby offers food and beverages.
The hotel, about 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston, is close to Sugar Land Town Square, Smart Financial Center and Constellation Baseball Field.
Nursing center welcomes new executive director
Matthew Lloyd was recently appointed as the executive director at The Vosswood Nursing Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Houston.
Lloyd most recently served as administrator at Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead, Ga. Prior to that appointment, he was administrator at Heritage Inn of Barnesville, Ga., for two years. He has been a licensed nursing home administrator since 2006 and started his career in long-term care as a receptionist. His mother was a nurse in the long-term care field.
Originally from Georgia, Lloyd earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Georgia State University. He currently resides in Houston and has two daughters.
The Vosswood Nursing Center, located at 815 S. Voss Road, is one of eight skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Texas managed by Life Care Centers of America.

Texas Comptroller Recover Taxes, Restitution
In fiscal 2017, the Texas Comptroller's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) made 82 arrests, filed 156 felony charges with prosecutors and secured 109 felony indict-ments against tax cheats trying to defraud Texas taxpayers.
Many of the arrests were related to suspects evading or attempting to evade paying tax on motor fuel. In all, CID's efforts led to the recovery of more than $280,000 in taxes and court-ordered restitution to the state through the end of the fiscal year.
CID has 21 full-time employees who work with various state and local police departments to investigate felony and misdemeanor crimes related to a variety of Texas taxes, including cigarette and tobacco taxes, motor fuel taxes, occupations code violations, sales and use tax and motor vehicle taxes. The officers conduct sting operations, stakeouts and inspec-tions and make arrests.
Most recently, CID investigators helped authorities prosecute a Houston man for using a cloned credit card to unlawfully obtain 41 gallons of diesel fuel pumped into a concealed auxiliary tank in the bed of his pickup truck.

Pet Supermarket has leased 8,000 square feet at The Crossing at Telfair, a development by Rubicon Realty Group at Texas 6 and U.S. 90 in Sugar Land. Debbie Adams of Realty Edge Partners the tenant. Inna Gallagher represented the landlord. The development has approximately 50,000 square feet of new retail space under development and available for pre-leasing. Other tenants include H-E-B, Navy Federal CU and AT&T and Chuy's.
Title Boxing Club, a boxing fitness franchise with more than 170 clubs nationwide including three in the Houston area, has partnered with area representative Donald McConnell to expand in the Houston market. Plans call for 20 new clubs in the area over the next six years.
The Daily Grind Cafe has leased 1,360 square feet at The Centre at Greatwood at 6560 Greatwood Parkway, Sugar Land. Steven Stone of KM Realty Advisors represented the landlord.
